Pencil Sharpening Shanty

Pencil Sharpening Shanty
(Cresby)

or Nude I Mention

Her cheeks are so rosey,
    She sits there in splendour,
        There's lead in my pencil
            Masterpiece I'll do.

Draws down the sheet now,
    The rubber is ready,
        Yes lead in my pencil
            Masterpiece two do.

Crunch goes the graphite,
    There is no point now.
        No lead in my pencil,
            Masterpiece? Can't do.

My words are all blunt now,
    Sharp tongues are a-wagging.
        'bout lead in my pencil.
            Masterpiece? Bad do!

Knives they are out now,
    For conclusions drawn now,
        On lead in my pencil.
            Masterpiece? Poor do.

Carving the stump now,
    Two inches left now
        Of lead in my pencil.
            Masterpiece? Boo Hoo.

Girlfriend to the rescue!
    A red felt tip now,
        Puts lead in my pencil
            Masterpiece? That'll do.
                         Very Nicely
