Where Have All the Flowers Gone
(Pete Seeger)

(GAGF) CAm/CD7G7/CAm/FCG/CAm/CD7G7/FGC/FGC

Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time passing.
Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time ago.
Where have all the flowers gone?
The girls have picked them ev'ry one.
Oh, When will you ever learn?
Oh, When will you ever learn?

                    young girls
They've taken husbands ev'ry one.

                    young men
They're all in uniform.
                    soldiers
They've gone to graveyards ev'ry one.

                    graveyards
They're covered with flowers ev'ry one.

                    flowers
Young girls have picked them ev'ry one.

Written by Peter Seeger. Copyright 1961 and 1977 by Fall River
Music, Inc. The song was inspired by a passage from Mikhail
Sholokhov's novel "And Quiet Flows the Don" with additional
verses by Joe Hickerson.

The song made its greatest impact in Germany, translated into
German and sung by Marlene Dietrich. The combination of the
language and the setting had a shattering effect on those who
heard it.
